The six volumes each deal with one of the six founding families. The author explains that he has added a sixth lineage to his 1993 work, that of Louis-René Prou, who arrived at the beginning of the 19th century, and Marguerite Brunet. The book also includes a presentation in English.

The author first reports on the introduction of the X in the Proulx surname, which was in the majority in the 18th century. Then, suddenly, in 1751, we find the LX in the pen and in the name of Father Antoine Proulx, a grandson of Jean Prou and Catherine Pinel. But we still don't know why this parish priest bought this fantasy adopted by all the Proulx around 1850, almost a century later.
