Martin Proulx and his family visiting Distré

Martin Proulx and his family visiting Distré

Martin Proulx is a proud descendant of Jean Prou and Jacquette Fournier and an active member of our association. We owe him some English translations of the posts and pages on this site for our Canadian or American cousins. Now, this weekend, Martin was in Distré, near Saumur, with his family.

This was not his first visit to the place of origin of his ancestor. A few years ago, he left a small Quebec flag in the church garden, closed that day, on which he had left a note for the inhabitants of the village.

This weekend, he and his family found their little flag carefully kept in a small cupboard in the church. On May 24th, the 13 members of your association were visiting the same place and we took the small flag out of its cupboard. This time, Martin and his children were shown the commemorative plaque in homage to Jean Proust that the 13 members of your association presented to the inhabitants of Distré last May.

A beautiful story!
