Happy memories of Gournay, homeland of Jacques Prous

The town hall of Gournay-Loizé (soon regrouped in Alloinay) publishes in its last municipal bulletin a nice word about the passage of the Proulx in their commune. It’s a pleasure!

Visite de la Famille PROULX: Mr BURGAUD, Maire délégué, rend compte de la visite, le 21 mai dernier à Gournay, de plusieurs membres de la famille PROULX, venus du Québec. Ces derniers ayant souhaité revenir sur les lieux, d’où était parti leur ancêtre Jacques PROUST, en 1704, pour s’établir à Montréal. Ce dernier ayant été baptisé en l’église Saint-Saturnin de Gournay, la famille a offert à la municipalité une plaque commémorant ce fait. Mr BURGAUD propose à l’assemblée de l’apposer à l’intérieur de l’église concernée, proposition acceptée à l’unanimité des présents.

Visit of the PROULX Family: Mr. BURGAUD, Deputy Mayor, reports on the visit, last May 21 in Gournay, of several members of the PROULX family, from Quebec. The descendants wished to return to the site, from where their ancestor Jacques PROUST had left in 1704 to settle in Montreal. The latter having been baptized in the church Saint-Saturnin de Gournay, the family offered the municipality a plaque commemorating this fact. Mr BURGAUD proposes to the assembly to affix it inside the church concerned, proposal accepted unanimously by the present.
