According to article 11.7 of the General By-Laws of the Proulx Families Association of America, here is the definition of an honorary member:
Honorary members: The directors of the Association may designate as honorary member any person who has rendered service to the Association, in particular by his work or by donations, with a view to promoting the attainment of its objectives. Once this status has been ratified, the said honorary member shall be entitled to an appropriate certificate attesting to his status as such.
According to article 11.7.1 of the General By-Laws of the Proulx Families Association of America, here is the definition of an emeritus member:
Emeritus Members: The Board of Directors may designate any member as an emeritus member in recognition of outstanding service to the Society or for his or her work and outstanding quality of genealogical studies. The member emeritus is appointed by unanimous vote of the Board of Directors. He is entitled to the same privileges and benefits as a principal member, but he does not have to pay dues.

 | BiographyMr. Joseph Proulx was the president of the organizing committee of the Rassemblement des Familles Proulx held in 1996 to mark the 300th anniversary of Rimouski. This event was a great success, gathering more then 600 people and was the seed that sprouted to finally give birth to the Association des Familles Proulx in 2008. In fact, Mr. Joseph helped set up the interim committee in 2006, and was the first to register as a member of the Association when it was founded. | |

 | BiographyMr. Jean-Paul Guévin was one of the pioneers of our Proulx Families Association of America, vice-president of our first board of directors and a great collaborator at our 1996 Proulx family gathering in Rimouski when we welcomed over 600 people for the entire weekend. The Proulx Families Association of America made a special point of highlighting its involvement with the Proulx Families at its annual general meeting in September 2011. He passed away on January 13th, 2011. | |

 | BiographyMy story begins in 1996 when the City of Rimouski celebrates its 300th anniversary. About ten stem families in the region are therefore asked to prepare a weekend gathering throughout the summer of 1996. So I approached to form a 13-member interim committee. We receive more than 1,000 descendants of the Proulx Family on the weekend of the great flood in the Saguenay. It is a success in every respect. We have a bank account that amounts to nearly $6,000, the profits made during this three-day event. It was only ten years later that the flame was reborn again, but this time to form an association. As I had preserved all the funds raised at our 1996 rally, we were going ahead financially. Structured exchanges allow us to establish a coherent action plan. The entire process for setting up an association is analyzed. The search for a name for the future association raises questions. Finally, we support the idea that there should be only one association bringing together all the descendants of the various Proulx ancestors in Canada and elsewhere, either in direct line or by marriage. We apply for our charter and receive our letters patent in May 2006. We are preparing our statutes and by-laws for our new association. We complete our procedures by acquiring coats of arms which are protected as of December 1st, 2008 by a certificate of registration of copyright. The founding meeting was held in Rimouski on September 27th, 2008. The association is a non-profit organization and is affiliated with the Fédération des Familles Souches du Québec (now the Fédération des associations de familles du Québec). I was president for 4 years and was replaced in October 2011 by Mr. Clément Proulx of St-Anaclet. I would like to acknowledge the contribution of Mr. Jean-Paul Guévin posthumously for his very great collaboration throughout this process of establishing our Association. He was a director of the Société de Généalogie et d’histoire de Rimouski and his knowledge greatly facilitated our task. In closing, I wish long life to our association, which is still very young at the time, but its evolution has been made by giant steps. In recent years, I have seen new administrators show up who make me believe that we will always be passionate about genealogy. Let us continue to build the Quebec of tomorrow! | |

 | BiographyA graduate in medicine from Laval University (1954), Dr. Proulx has devoted himself tirelessly to his patients for over 40 years at his office in Limoilou, at the Saint-François-d’Assise Hospital, at the Roy-Rousseau Clinic and at the Rothmans, Benson & Hedges plant. Dr. Proulx was president of the Amicale des anciens at Collège Ste-Anne de la Pocatière, where he took his classical course. Upon his retirement, he became passionate about genealogy, particularly that of the Proulx and Aubin family. From 1999 to 2005, Mr. Pierre Proulx collaborated closely with Mr. Antonin Proulx, first by making a significant contribution to the Dictionnaire des Mariages Proulx, then by conducting intensive joint research to trace the baptismal certificate of the ancestor Jean and information on his family. A trip to France in 2001 was unsuccessful, but the research continued and was subsequently successful. The results of his work were published twice in 2003 and 2004 in L’Ancêtre, a journal of the Société de généalogie de Québec, and were awarded first prize in the same journal in the fall of 2005. He passed away on January 13th, 2017, in Quebec City. | |
