Pat was born in Waterville, the sixth child of Albert and Alice (Duranleau) Proulx. Pat proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII in the Asia-Pacific Theatre aboard the USS Devosa. Upon his return stateside Pat spent a brief time working on the Maine Central Railroad. He worked in Presque Isle for the next 60 years, first alongside his brother Real who managed a Gulf station, and then at such places as Texgas Corp., Purolator Courier, and the Aroostook Regional Transportation Company.

Baseball was one of the enduring passions of Pat’s life. He played shortstop for the Presque Isle Indians in the Maine/New Brunswick league and on Class D and C teams at the professional level in the West Texas/New Mexico league. In 2009, he was inducted into the Maine Baseball Hall of Fame. A devoted Red Sox fan, he was elated to see the team win three World Series titles. He also loved playing cards, especially cribbage, and even played spirited games of partner cribbage with his grandchildren until shortly before passing away.

Surviving is his wife Ellen Joyce McDonough Proulx whom he was married to in 2007; daughter Patrice Proulx and her husband Gregory Morin of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter Holly Proulx of Eagle Lake and son Real Proulx and his wife Susan of Presque Isle; grandchildren Jessamyn and Tristan Proulx-Morin of Omaha Nebraska; stepdaughters Kathryn Higgins, Joan Tripp and her husband Craig, and Cheryl Jordan. Also surviving are eight step-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Predeceasing Pat were his wives, Gloria Bailey and Marilyn Brown; siblings, Beatrice, Real, Rudolph, Juliette, Irene, Colleen, and Albert Proulx.

Family and friends are invited to attend an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial for Pat to be celebrated on Friday, May 16 at Sacred Heart Church, 72 Pleasant St., Waterville, ME, with committal service to follow at St. Francis Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers Pat’s family suggests memorials be made to the Central Aroostook Humane Society at 26 Cross St. Presque Isle, ME 04769, or at www.centralaroostookhumanesociety.org

Care for Pat and his family has been entrusted to the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home of Portland and the Veilleux Funeral Home of Waterville.
